Preston Cycling Club offers a number of training opportunities:

Saturday Track Training @ TW Andrews reserve from 10am - 12:00pm

  • Beginner Track Session: 10.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m.

  • Novice (Intermediate) Track Session: 11.00 a.m. - 12.00 a.m.

The Beginner session is just as it’s name implies - an opportunity for kids 6 and up (off training wheels) to learn how to ride a track bike. For adults who are interested in learning how to ride a track bike, we recommend you come along to the Novice session. You will be able to join in with junior riders who have been through the beginner session and are now developing a greater level of track riding/racing skills.

A $5 participation fee is asked of each rider, which goes toward the club’s costs.

October - March: Wednesday Evening training drills session @ TW Andrews Reserve

Clubrooms open around 6.00 p.m., and training drills will then commence around 6.30 p.m. The session usually runs for around an hour. This is a free session.

CLUB TRAINING @ DISC

During the winter months, the club usually has the opportunity to have training session at DISC. To participate in these session, riders need to hold a “Race” licence and be skilled at riding @ DISC.

Sunday Social Ride - departs TW Andrews reserve at 8.30 a.m.

The club regularly undertakes a Sunday Social Ride. Departing from the PCC Clubrooms Carpark at TW Andrews Reserve (corner of Cuthbert Rd & Fordham Road, Reservoir), a route will be decided on and led by a senior club member. The route is determined each week based on the number of riders and their level of skill, Rides will usually be around 40 - 60km, and are a “no drop” ride, with the group stopping at various points to allow regrouping. The ride usually culminates with a coffee at a cafe just up the road from the clubrooms.

The best way to know if there is a social ride is to check the club’s Facebook page, as any up-to-date information will usually be posted there on Saturday.

Masters Track Training @ DISC: Tuesday, 10:00am - 12.00 p.m.

For Masters riders, there is an opportunity to train indoors at Darebin International Sports Centre (DISC) with Peter Wykes, the club coach. This is a great opportunity to get the feel of the boards at DISC. Beginner/novice track riders with no or little experience on the track at DISC should arrive at 9.00 a.m. and speak with Peter who will help get you used to the track.
